On 9th August 2001, a horse was killed and a riding instructor and rider and another horse from Stag Lodge Stables were seriously injured when a van careened into them near the gates at the Robin Hood entrance to Richmond Park, Surrey. The driver of the van fled on foot after ploughing into the gates. He was travelling the wrong way along a one-way route.
We, the undersigned, would like a barrier set up on the road or the road narrowed where it is illegal to exit Robin Hood gate at Richmond Park, Surrey. The intention is not to stop motorists from using the entrance, just to make it safer for horses and riders.
