Metallica: Acknowledge Dave Mustaine at Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame Induction

Although Dave was only in Metallica for what some perceive to be a short period of time the man, as an artist and original member of the band, provided Metallica with some of their classic songs which are still enjoyed as much today as they were in the beginning.

As an artist, he is credited on two Metallica albums, as a member he toured and co-fronted the band live.

He also wrote half a dozen or so songs with Metallica which inarguably, helped launch their career.

Memorable classics such as The Four Horsemen, Jump in the Fire, Phantom Lord and Metal Militia not to mention the showtopping numbers, Ride the Lightning and The Call of Ktulu

If Dave was nothing more than a 'temporary member' of Metallica who brought nothing to the band then people wouldn't still love or ask to hear the material he wrote with them live, today

Crowds wouldn't cheer or rock out to the now legendary riffs he wrote for the band.

His influence and impact on the band, as a musician speaks for itself.

He achieved all of these things before Kirk or Cliff entered the equation and the fact that he achieved all of these things within that short period of time is, in itself, an incredible feat given his young age back then.

In terms of artistic merit, his time with Metallica isn't a failure but more so a running commentary as to his incredible musical talent.

Personal issues and squabbles between all involved parties are a separate issue.

Dave has admitted that he deserved to get fired from Metallica but this is a separate issue.

Regardless of how you feel about Dave as a 'personality' atleast be reasonable enough NOT to disregard his artistic achievements.

The man as an artist and original member of Metallica should be at the very least offered a friendly nod at the event or acknowledged for what he brought to the band in some way.

It's a matter of honor and decency.

He may have not physically performed on the albums but his riffs and music was physically used during their recording.

His riffs and music is still being used to this day by Metallica, live.

'Rock star personalities' aside, they are a separate issue. We're talking about his achievements and what he gave the band as an artist, not as a 'rock star personality'

Metallica, please acknowledge Dave in some way at this event and if not, atleast re-consider his offer to play a Met/Mega show in the future as it would be the biggest event in heavy metal history
