Mobile Toilets and Functioning Street Lights Needed on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, Nigeria
- Target:
- Lagos State Government and Nigerian Federal Government
- Region:
- Nigeria
Estimated to be 11.8km long, the Third Mainland Bridge Lagos is Nigeria's longest bridge and was Africa's longest until 1996. Linking Mainland Lagos to Lagos Island, this bridge is estimated to have an Average Daily Traffic of 250,000 vehicles and the traffic flow is often very slow moving or in some cases, stagnant.
Faced with such a gridlock and without any provisions for 'pit stops', commuters are often seen urinating at various points on the Third Mainland bridge. There are policemen and patrol vans stationed on the bridge and without mobile toilets, one wonders where these cops 'go when they have to go'
It is against this background that this petition is being started to persuade the government to provide mobile toilets on the Third Mainland Bridge.
We, the undersigned, request the appropriate ministry of the Federal Government of Nigeria and the relevant arm of the Lagos State Government to provide mobile toilets and functioning street lights on the Third Mainland Bridge.
