The legacy of the American black women is such that it must be recognized as distinct and culturally significant to the advancement of the black community and the American Society.
Therefore to designate a time to recognize, reflect and remember black women is necessary and relevant to "when and where we enter" because it celebrates the mother of civilization and dignifies her contributions to human and humankind.
WE the Undersigned designate July as National Black Woman’s Heritage Month.
WE unite and declare that July as "National Black Woman's Heritage Month."
WE unite and agree that all of our organizations, museums, libraries, youth leaders, and educators throughout the country, will successfully begin to recognize and celebrate July as the National Black Woman's Heritage Month.
WE agree that with our voices united, we can achieve a national and international celebration that brings black women to their long overdue place in American society and can serve as a focal celebration to recognize and celebrate the black woman's historic and modern accomplishments.
WE unite and agree that the President of the United States of America issue a proclamation to the American people, encouraging the recognition and celebration of the black woman's historic and modern accomplishments during the month of July.
WE unite and agree that the Congress of the United States of America and the members of the Congressional Black Caucus sponsor the first congressional Resolution to declare the month of July in 2011 as National Black Woman's Heritage Month.
WE are all in agreement and affix our name to said document.
