I am looking to have a law changed that will prevent a legal contract from commencing in a global pandemic event. I have recently purchased and block of land and signed the contract. I have asked if the contract can be canceled due to the recent pandemic event to which the responce was NO its a legal binding contract.
What I want to happen is change the law so that myself and other Australians in the same situation are able to brake this contract.
I purpose that the law should state that in the event of a global pandemic which results in a country to be on lock down for longer than 2 weeks that any contract to purchase house/land are able to be broken. Or the price be amended to the post pandemic prices
We can expect that house and land prices to drop dramatically after such and event and to be locked into a contract at pre pandemic prices is morally wrong. I ask if you will help me bring this to the attention of the federal government by signing the petition and showing your support.
