F35s have a noise level higher than any other military jet. Noise pollution extends miles in every direction.
* At a half mile radius, houses are uninhabitable and must be torn down.
* At a 5 mile radius, one cannot carry on a normal conversation outside for 20 seconds while the jet passes overhead.
* At a 10 mile radius, jet noise is noticeable enough to wake sleeping infants.
Downtown Boise is 3 and a half miles from Gowen Field. Downtown Meridian is 10 miles from Gowen Field. On average, the jets will fly every 20 minutes.
The military knows noise pollution is harmful to civilians and therefore picks low-population density, rural locations for its high-noise jets. None of the proposed locations for F35 jets has a higher density of population than Boise.
Boise is known for its quality of life. Boise has foothills, rivers, clean air and clean water. Boise has been tagged "the most livable city in America". Thousands of people have worked for years to preserve and enhance its quality of life.
Preserve our quality of life! Demand that your military put its F35 jets in a location more appropriate for their noise levels - such as Mountain Home.
We, the undersigned, call on the United States Air Force to locate its F35 jets somewhere other than Boise, Idaho. Our quality of life and health would be negatively affected in dramatic fashion by such continuous noise pollution. We proudly support our military and respectfully ask our military to place its F35 jets in a location more appropriate for such high noise levels. Thank you!
