Whereas, the public health concerns of existing outdoor wood boilers are well documented and recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, the Environmental Protection Agency, the American Lung Association, and countless other local boards of health across the United States, we are hereby signing this petition in support for Rutland residents who wish for the institution of a summer ban for existing outdoor wood boilers in the Town of Rutland, Massachusetts.
On behalf of the citizens of Rutland, Massachusetts, we the undersigned, as concerned citizens from surrounding towns, cities, and municipalities in Massachusetts and beyond, respectfully ask the Rutland Board of Health and Rutland Board of Selectmen to:
NUMBER ONE: Adopt and institute a non-heating summer ban from April 1 to October 1 for outdoor wood boilers in the Town of Rutland.
and,
NUMBER TWO: Adopt and institute a 1,000 foot safety zone for summer operation of outdoor wood boilers in the Town of Rutland.
