PLEASE SIGN MY PETITION TO IMPROVE TRUST AND RELIABILITY IN THE RENTAL SECTOR

Landlords/property managements are not listed in the Better Business Bureau. Yet, it is important for TENANTS to be able to address a complaint to the BBB the way they would do for other businesses in case of unsatisfactory goods or services.

Presently, when faced with a uncooperative landlord/property management in resolving a complaint, TENANTS can file a complaint at a Housing Tribunal or Board. Most TENANTS, however, will move out rather than embark on judicial procedures.

Through the BBB, TENANTS will have the opportunity to report a complaint that will set in motion a non-judicial process, starting with mediation. Arriving at a satisfactory solution to both tenant and landlord will result in having the TENANT stay in the rented premises and the LANDLORD retain the TENANT.

With the seal of accreditation of the BBB, which is widely recognized as a sure sign of reliable and satisfactory service, the LANDLORD/PROPERTY Mgmt also gains in repute and in attracting more new tenants.

We, the undersigned, call on the Better Business Bureau to:

- recognize that the addition of landlords/property managements to the BBB will advance trust between landlords and tenants, and

- take action to allow landlords/property managements to register and become BBB accredited.
