According to the Saskatchewan Health Information Privacy Act (HIPA) parents do not have the right to their children's health records.
In some areas of this province a parent cannot access this information for a child over the age of 12 without the written consent of that child, or they have been proven mentally incompetent by a psychiatrist.
We, the undersigned, call on the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health to give custodial parents full access to their children's health information.
