Petition For a Pedestrian Crossing at St Patrick's National School, Newbridge
- Target:
- Kildare County Council
- Region:
- Ireland
St Patrick's is one of the only schools in Newbridge which does not have a designated pedestrian crossing.
Morristown Road becomes so congested at busy times of day that it is highly unsafe to cross the road in front of the school.
It is difficult to get to a less busy section of road to cross, as the pavement to the left of the school is so narrow that it cannot be negotiated safely with children.
Kildare County Council have stated that they do not to have the funding to provide a pedestrian crossing for the school.
We feel that our children have the right to get to and from school in safety and that Kildare County Council should urgently review the situation.
We, the undersigned, call on Kildare County Council to provide a designated pedestrian crossing at St Patrick's National School, Newbridge.
St Patrick's is one of the only schools in Newbridge not to have a pedestrian crossing. For the safety of our children, teachers, parents and local residents, it is imperative that a crossing be provided to allow us to get to and from school in safety.
