Concerned Residents of Waterfall, Crestview, Crestholme, and Molweni
Region:
South Africa

Introduction:
We, the concerned residents of Waterfall, Crestview, Crestholme, and Molweni, KwaZulu-Natal, call on the relevant authorities to address the dangerous stretch of road between 153 Inanda Rd and 218 Inanda Rd. This section has seen numerous accidents, resulting in serious injuries and fatalities due to poor road conditions and inadequate safety measures. As one of only two access routes into our communities, we urge immediate action to repair the road, install proper lighting, and implement safety barriers to protect motorists and pedestrians.

Specific Issues:
• Potholes: Poorly maintained and inadequately repaired potholes that pose a serious hazard.
• Dangerous Bends: Motorists frequently lose control on these bends, resulting in vehicles skidding, flipping, and rolling into ditches.
• Lack of Safety Barriers: There are no barriers along the road to prevent cars from sliding off.
• Non-functional Street Lights: The stretch is dangerously dark, especially at night, with non-operational street lights.
• Overhanging Trees: Trees along the road obstruct natural light and further reduce visibility.

Call to Action:
We respectfully request that the eThekwini Municipality take immediate steps to:

• Repair potholes effectively.
• Install safety barriers on dangerous bends.
• Repair or replace non-functional street lights.
• Trim overhanging trees to improve visibility.
• Increase speed monitoring and enforcement in the area.

Subject: Urgent Request for Road Safety Improvements on Inanda Road
Dear Esteemed Leaders,

We, the concerned residents of Waterfall, Crestview, Crestholme, and Molweni in eThekwini, wish to bring to your attention the critical safety issues regarding the stretch of road between 153 Inanda Rd and 218 Inanda Rd. Over the past ten years, this section has been the site of numerous accidents, leading to injuries and fatalities, highlighting the urgent need for immediate intervention.

Specific Issues:
• Potholes: The road is riddled with potholes that are inadequately repaired, creating dangerous conditions for motorists.
• Dangerous Bends: The road features sharp bends where vehicles frequently lose control, leading to crashes and rollovers.
• Lack of Safety Barriers: There are no barriers to prevent vehicles from veering off the road into ditches.
• Non-functional Street Lights: The absence of working street lights renders this stretch dangerously dark at night, increasing the risk of accidents.
• Overhanging Trees: Trees along the road obstruct visibility, further compounding the danger.

This stretch serves as one of only two access routes into our communities, making it essential for our safety and well-being. We urge the eThekwini Municipality to take the following actions:

• Conduct effective repairs on potholes.
• Install safety barriers at critical points.
• Repair or replace non-functional street lights to ensure proper illumination.
• Trim overhanging trees to improve visibility along the road.
• Increase monitoring and enforcement of speed limits in this area.

We appreciate your attention to this pressing issue and look forward to your prompt action to enhance the safety of our roads.

Sincerely,
Concerned Residents
Waterfall, Crestview, Crestholme, and Molweni
