The recycling center in the Bancroft Safeway parking lot is an eye sore and a hazard. It brings recyclers from outside the neighborhood who, in the process of coming to the center, steal recycling out of residents bins. This is a crime and raises the cost of the curbside pick ups because the recycling center does not get the funds and we believe that if the center is gone that this would not be an issue.
Also, the center makes the area smell of old alcohol and it produces noise pollution in the form of smashing glass and crushing cans 6 to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. There is a curbside pick-up for recycling in the surrounding neighborhoods and another center not 3 miles away.

We, the undersigned, ask NexCycle and the City of San Leandro to respectfully remove the NexCycle recycling center in the parking lot of Safeway at 555 Bancroft Ave.
We believe that the area would be better off without it and also ask that it be done in a speedily manner.
