Reason for Petition:
The Pomona City VPD will be holding a hearing to evaluate relocating 40 parking slots from parking lot 2-8 near the phone company site and moving these slots to 3-2. Lot 3-2 is the parking lot for Memorial park located on 2nd street between Parcel and Rebecca st.
History:
LA County Dept of Children and Family Services has a long history of serving the Pomona area and sourrounding communities. We have maintained an office in the city of Pomona since the early 1980's. Our staff numbers have grown through the years along with the population and the needs of the community.
The Pomona Office has occuppied office space at the Washingting Mutual Bank since 1997. Our staff sponsor the restaurants and buisnesses in the area contributing to the growth of the downtown buisness area.
Recently our Department has launched several new initiatives aimed at reducing the number of children in foster care and aimed at reunifying families sooner. This has resulted in a growth in our office staff, stretching our existing parking allocations to their limit.
The City of Pomona VPD has determined that they would like to increase the number of available pay lots by 40 which would result in the POmona DCFS Office having 40 parking slots relocated to Memorial Park.
Concerns:
The Park is 1/2 a mile away from the office.
We, the undersigned, petition Pomona DCFS to keep current parking lot allocation.
