The 4th Monday in August school start date is under attack in Texas. A loophole was passed in 2015 that allows schools to request to be a "District of Innovation" and ignore the school start date law.
While innovation is a wonderful thing, there is NOTHING innovative about early-August school start dates. Help us send a message to the Texas Legislature to close the loophole and require ALL Texas K-12 public schools begin the school year no earlier than the 4th Monday in August.
We, the undersigned, support all Texas K-12 public schools starting the school year no earlier than the 4th Monday in August. Please close the loophole allowing Districts of Innovation to begin the school year earlier in August.
