Child Poverty is a growing issue within New Zealand, and is also greatly overlooked by the New Zealand Government. With as many as 305,000 New Zealand children living in poorly conditions and are being subjected to poverty for an astounding amount of time of their children.
Often children in poverty get sick easier than most kids and aren't subject to proper health care. They live in poorly conditions, such as over crowded houses, which on top of that are often damp and wet, and inadequate clothing. These conditions result in children struggling with school, therefore end up working in lower paid jobs.
Additionally, they have poor health and also end up involved in criminal activity, in some cases. Child Poverty will not stop happening unless New Zealander's do something about it, all it takes is a little bit of heart.
This petition is aimed to raise awareness regarding the facts of child poverty, and to help others to understand the reality of what 1 in 4 New Zealand children are living through.
As a group of seniors at New Plymouth Girls' High School we are calling on the Government to raise their budget in funding Child Poverty matters, when this petition signing closes we will send it to the New Zealand Government so they are aware that Child Poverty is a bigger issue in New Zealand than what it is made out to be.
