Sensis Australia delivers printed Yellow Pages to nearly all residential addresses across Australia. With most people having access to more timely and accurate internet based search, these paper directories are becoming increasingly irrelevant. Many are never opened and go straight to recycling or even worse, general waste.
While an opt out service is provided at https://www.directoryselect.com.au/ds/ , it does not apply to unit dwellers, and the service is not always reliable. These wasted directories represent a huge environmental burden from unnecessary production, transport and disposal costs.
We call on Sensis Australia to significantly reduce the number of Yellow Pages directories printed each year, many of which are unwanted and never opened.
Sensis should also attempt to recover unclaimed Yellow Pages books and deliver them to new addresses.
Individual unit dwellers should be able to opt out, and not just an entire building as currently offered.
They should remove pointless directory variants like 'Yellow Pages In the Car'.
