We the undersigned call upon the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council to fulfil it’s obligations under Sections 137 and 148 of the Highways Act 1980 to ensure that the public footpaths in the Bradford District are free from obstructions caused by “A Board” advertising displays and displays of merchandise for sale.
We remind the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council of the policy it has agreed to in 2005 with regard to “A Boards” and 2006 with regard to displays of merchandise that encroach onto the public footpath and ask and demand that the council uses its powers to remove any such obstruction and where necessary take appropriate legal action against any trader who transgresses this legislation and/or council policy.
We further remind the Council that this issue has been ongoing, with countless meetings taking place, policy documents being written since 1991 and to date has still never been satisfactorily resolved.
