Remove the Archaic Dress Codes from Government Offices In Antigua and Barbuda
- Target:
- Government of Antigua and Barbuda
- Region:
- Antigua and Barbuda
For years we have been subjected to archaic rules and policy passed on from colonialism.
No sleeveless clothing
No shorts
No slippers
...and the list goes on.
Did I mention that we live on an ISLAND? In the tropics? You'd think that these things were ok to wear on an island, right?
We follow and enforce these rules blindly and funny thing is, in England (where these rules actually came from), the rules were removed YEARS ago - and it's COLD there!
So tell me why is it, that in Antigua and Barbuda, two beautiful islands in the Caribbean, we are STILL enforcing these DUMB rules??
If a person is inappropriately dressed, YES, turn them back, but you're telling me that I can't pay a bill or conduct business because my shoulders are showing? Or because you can see my toes? NONSENSE!
It's time for it to stop!
We, the people of Antigua and Barbuda, call on the government of Antigua and Barbuda to remove the archaic and unreasonable dress code from its government offices and its statutory bodies.
