California has one of the most corrupt and inefficient transportation departments in the nation, and according to a 2014 study spends 4.7 times as much to build and maintain roads as the national average.
It is outragous to impose $52 Billion in new gas taxes which hit working families hardest, while completely failing to reform CalTrans.
Not one more dime in taxes until Jerry Brown, Gavin Newsom and the California Legislature start putting taxpayers ahead of their special interest donors.
Whereas, California spends 4.7 times more than the national average to build and maintain roads and highway, and
Whereas, CalTrans has been repeatedly singled out for its corrupt, bloated and inefficient operations, and
Whereas, California already has among the highest taxes in the nation, and
Whereas, the recently enacted $52 billion in new gas taxes will hit working families hardest.
We call upon Governor Jerry Brown, Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Legislature to repeal this outrageous new tax and to immediately impose strict financial accountability measures to rein in the corrupt, broken, and bloated CalTrans bureaucracy.
