In our region of Northwestern Ontario during the opening of hunting season, our land becomes a dangerous place to be for our local hunters and individuals like myself that enjoy the colors and landscape of Autumn through our wooded area.
It is clearly not recommended as I have been warned for individuals to venture into our woods due to the enormous amount of hunters that are present.
Many hunters in our woods come from districts as far away as the east & west coast of Canada and our neighbors from the south. I have witnessed the loss of a hunter that left behind a family of 8 kids and his spouse, and a family member that was shot and killed on his own property by a hunter that as well left behind his kids and spouse.
Hunting is a dangerous sport where individuals, experienced or not, walk the woods with weapons that kill. Although these hunters carry a permit to hunt, it should not give them the right to claim a spot in our woods in Northwestern Ontario to do their hunting.
We the undersigned call on the Ontario Goverment to create a law to limit the danger of injury or fatalities of our hunters and individuals in our wooded areas of Northwestern Ontario to eliminate the over-population of out-of-town hunters that come to Northwestern Ontario to hunt during hunting season.
