A recall election (also called a recall referendum or representative recall) is a procedure by which voters can remove an elected official from office through a direct vote (plebiscite), initiated when sufficient voters sign a petition.
There are times when we discover that our elected officials are not governing in our best interest. These officials can be found at all levels of our government. They are the one’s who take for granted the wishes of the people; instead opting to put their own self-interest or the interest of their party first.
In North Carolina the only time that we can do anything about these officials is during regularly scheduled elections.
We need the right to recall in order make politicians more accountable to the people.
