Per CBER calculations from Nevada Department of Health and Human Services data, Office of Public Health Informatics and Epidemiology, Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health, teen pregnancies in Washoe county from the gap of 2013-15 show that these pregnancies have tapered out at around 28 pregnancies for every 1,000 women in this age group. Compared to a most recent study this number has declined to 26.5, but that is still a high number for teen pregnancies.
We, the undersigned, call on the Washoe county school district to implement condom dispensers in all restrooms throughout schools for teens to purchase or every sexual education course will hand out free ones for participating in these classes. This is only the first step in many to decrease the number of teen pregnancies, as well as the spread of STD’s among youth.
