July 12, 2005: Residents oppose the addition of a proposed two-story parking structure at a neighboring car dealership.
Residents request that Santa Monica City Council approve speed bumps on 13th Street due to execssive speed by mechanics and potential buyers speeding beyond the 30 mph limit.
We, the undersigned residents of the 1300 block of 12th street in Santa Monica, protest the zoning request of Santa Monica BMW to build an additional two-story parking structure on the grounds that the proposed facility will add increased traffic on an already over burdened through fare.
In addition, we request the City of Santa Monica install speed bumps on our block as a safety precaution against the reckless, high-speed test drivers at the BMW dealership and repeated speeding violations on our street by BMW's maintenance personnel.
We ask that you consider the safety of children and adults who frequently cross this street and routinely witness drivers directly connected to the BMW dealership who treat our street like a dragstrip.
