An Australian Citizen and a medical practitioner has lost her nine year old daughter to international abduction. The ex- husband who is of Indian nationality, has took an Australian born and bred nine year old without consent to India in April 2012.
Since then, this child has not had any formal education or medical care, despite the fact that she has already suffered from a cancer of her eye and despite the fact that her own mother is a medical practitioner in Australia.
Although a Recovery Orders and custody arrangements are in place in Australia, due to the Hague Convention and the fact that India is not a signatory to this, Australian authorities are unable to retrieve the child.

This Petition of certain citizens of Australia and the World, draws to the attention of the House:

We therefore ask the house to:
Kindly request the relevant Indian authorities to sign the Hague Convention so that this child and many others can be returned to their rightful homes.
