Shortly after Christmas a notice was displayed in the Long Itchington Co-op advising that the 'instore' post office counter would be closing on 25th February 2016.
This decision was made without any consultation within the community or contact with the Parish Council.
The Post office provides a vital service within the village and it's closure will have an adverse impact on residents, particularly those unable to drive and/or have mobility problems.
Please make a comment as it adds weight to the Petition. However if you make a comment please don't hide your comment, as the Co-op will not be able to see your comment. Thank You
Long Itchington Petition Against the Co-op Post Office Closure
We, the undersigned, wish to register our objection to The Heart of England Co-operative’s (“Co-op”) decision to close the Post Office in the Long Itchington Co-op Food Store. This decision was taken without any consultation with the community and removes a vital service.
Until recently the Co-op stated on its website that Co-op Post Offices support rural communities and add another vital customer service.
The closure of the Post Office in the Long Itchington Co-op will have an adverse impact on residents of the Parish of Long Itchington and a major impact on those residents who can’t drive and/or have mobility problems.
We ask the Co-op to reconsider and reverse its closure decision. Failing that, to work with us to secure an alternative Post Office service in Long Itchington, and in the interim period continue to provide a Post Office service in the existing location until an alternative Post Office service is established.
