Energy giant Shell has applied for federal government approval for 60 days' exploration drilling in an area about 50km west of the Ningaloo marine park's boundary.
Recently, we have seen failures of oil exploration and its devastation on the environment.
Australia is not short of cash and needn't allow every Tom, Dick and Harry corporation to abuse its fragile nature by moving in and capitalising on the country's natural resources.
Let's take care of the beautiful environment we have been blessed with and say no to oil exploration anywhere near Ningaloo Reef.
We, the undersigned, call on the Australian government to refuse permission to Shell or any other company to drill within 500km of Ningaloo Reef.
