The California Department of Fish and Wildlife have issued a permit allowing P45 Mountain Lion in the Santa Monica mountains to be hunted and killed. P45 is suspected of killing several farm animals in the Santa Monica mountains.
The kill permit is valid for 10 days as of 11/29/16.
We, residents of California, call on the Department of Fish and Wildlife to rescind the Kill permit against the P45 mountain lion living in the Santa Monica Mountains and instead seek solutions that allow wildlife to coexist with farm and domesticated animals who live in hillside areas.
Among those solutions include ranchers ensuring the safety and protection of their domestic and farm animals by providing proper, cougar-proof enclosures.
Furthermore, we ask the Department of Fish and Wildlife to consider that P45 is an alpha male mountain lion with DNA from outside the area and is an important part in maintaining a healthy gene pool among mountain lions in the Santa Monica mountains.
