With the expansion of the boot and shoe trade the goods depot at Rushden became one of the finest in the district .The original goods shed was a capacious structure 120 feet in length by 38 feet in width, built of red brick, with a slated roof and large overhead sky-light.
It is this shed that Northamptonshire County Council is seeking to disposal of. Rushden Historical Transport Society would like to acquire the Goods Shed and surrounding yard to expand the current Museum and to develop the site into a facility which would benefit the community and also attract visitors into the town and surrounding area.
We, the undersigned, support Rushden Historical Transport Society in their attempt to purchase Rushden Goods Shed and surrounding site.
If the project fails we vehemently oppose the demolition of the Goods Shed.
This Goods Shed is a major part of Rushden’s heritage and should be preserved for all.
