In June of 2000 Gospel 790AM was officially launched as the first 24 hour gospel station offering inspiration, upliftment and encouragement to the people of Barbados initially.
The station also offered the Christian community a voice and unlike any other radio station, it catered to all ages through unique and specially targeted programmes. Subsequently, the station went FM on the frequency 97.5. On April 4th the frequency was allocated to the new Caribbean Super Station in effect removing anything but paid gospel programmes in what has been dubbed a merge with VOB 92.9 FM.
The Christian Community refuses to stand by and have the Gospel pushed aside in such a callous manner especially since so many lives have be touched and changed over the years.
Our nation says it wants positive change...then make room for a proper Gospel Station!
We, the undersigned, call on on the Government of Barbados, The Barbados Broadcast Commission and Starcom Network Incorporated to give the people of Barbados back our Gospel Station.
