Pima County Government has scheduled the Kino Teen Center (KTC) location at 2801 E. Ajo Way for closure. The Kino Teen Center provides confidential medical and counseling services for uninsured and underinsured teens ages 12-21.

The KTC also provides educational programs that serve more than 10,000 teens with prevention and health empowerment education every year. This education program consists of: decision making, STD prevention, violence prevention, substance abuse prevention, teenage pregnancy prevention, youth advocacy and more. Other services provided by the KTC include: clothing, diaper and baby formula donations; teen parenting, child birth and sewing classes; summer empowerment program; health insurance registration/WIC; social serve referral and case management; STD testing/treatment and family planning. All of these services based out of the same location are integral to the community wide promotion of a healthy and safe environment for youth in Pima County.

This action taken by Pima County Manager Chuck Huckleberry; Pima County board of Supervisors: Ramon Valadez, Ann Day, Sharon Bronson, Richard Elias and Ray Carroll; Pima County Community and Economic Development; and Pima County Health Department will be devastating to the at-risk and under-served adolescents and teens of Pima County.

The services the Kino Teen Center provides are vital for the good health of teens and families. The KTC provides all these services at the same location. The wide range of services must be kept together. The KTC must stay open to insure that youth have access to health services in a comfortable and safe environment like the one provided at 2801 E. Ajo Way. The closure of the Kino Teen Center is a matter of community public health, healthy neighborhoods, youth empowerment and public safety.

DON'T TAKE AWAY OUR TEEN CLINIC! DON'T CLOSE THE KINO TEEN CENTER!

We call on Pima County Manager Chuck Huckleberry; Pima County board of Supervisors: Ramon Valadez, Ann Day, Sharon Bronson, Richard Elias and Ray Carroll; Pima County Community and Economic Development; and Pima County Health Department to:
STOP THE CLOSURE OF THE KINO TEEN CENTER!

Youth services should not be eliminated. Youth Services should be expanded.
