The Sportsman Long Eaton, is one of our few remaining thriving public houses. It has a fantastic function room used by many and has been a central part of the Long Eaton social scene for decades.
Amanda Jones the pubs Landlady has made fabulous improvements to the front beer garden incorporating decked area, seating, lovely table areas made even more appealing with beautiful planting (this was formerly a plain concrete landscape/car park).
Summer nights are lovely in this area and from the road it is pleasing to the eye (a far cry from some other establishments in the town). Our annual towns Carnival brings hundreds of families to the garden to enjoy the parade...lts a real community event!
Amanda also holds many charity events in the garden to support many worthy local causes.... and now Erewash Borough Council want it all pulling down!
We must stop this and show the Council we want to keep the garden looking as it is! A real asset to our little town!
We, the undersigned, as residents of Long Eaton and surrounding areas, and patrons of The Sportsman, Derby Road, Long Eaton, want Erewash Borough Council to revert their decision and allow the beer garden to remain in its current state and NOT be removed or returned to previous condition:
