US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) are increasing visa fees 66% on average. The cost will go to upgrading computers, hiring more Immigration Officers, and improving the overall application process.
However, the cost for these improvements should not be solely on the applicants and petitioners. The U.S. Federal Government need to take responsibility in supporting the incurred cost of improvements and upgrades to the USCIS bureau.
Some of the application fee increases include (but not limited to):
Application for U.S. citizenship from $330 to $675.
Application for Fiance(e) visa from $170 to $455.
Application for Relative visa from $190 to $355.
Adjustment of Status fee will increase from $325 to $1010
As you can see, the fees were already high to began with, but now they're are ridiculously steep. The new fees will be an enormous financial hurdle for countless immigrants and foreigners. It will be a terrible burden for families who are trying to reunite with one another, or people trying to bring their foreign spouse over.
We, the undersigned, are against the increased fees passed on to the applicants and petitioners.
We call on the USCIS and U.S. Federal Government to financially support the incurred cost of improvements and upgrades to the USCIS bureau.
