***SAVE LANSDOWNE IN BOURNEMOUTH FROM TOWN CENTRE TRAVELLER SITE***
Bournemouth Borough Council has announced a proposal for a Traveller site on Trumpet junction at Park road which is in Lansdowne---- right in the middle of Bournemouth Town Centre and on the gateway to Bournemouth
This directly conflicts with the Council's Vision of Lansdowne being the gateway to Bournemouth as this site will be clearly visible from the Wessex way as tourists approach Bournemouth. It will also be in plain view for Tourists arriving by train and car. The implications on Bournemouth as a tourist hotspot and desirable UK holiday location will be severely tarnished
Having this in the town centre WILL affect -
* Tourism
* Businesses
* Residents
* Pubs and clubs
* Bournemouth's reputation
*Bournemouth University
*Conservation Area
The impact of traveller sites in town/city locations is well known to -
* Reduce property prices
* Increase anti-social behaviour
* Increase crime rates
* Increase littering
The recommended location is:
* Close to the Train station where visitors / tourists embark / disembark.
* Opposite an Elderly residents Home
* All town centre residents
* Major route walked /driven everyday by people coming in and out of town
*Main walking route to the train station for persons who catch the trains very early/ late. This will increase concern for safety.
*Lansdowne is all ready short of parking space and this will leave one less car park, as well as persons being conscious of leaving their cars parked in the adjacent car parks due to fear of theft.
* Lansdowne / Dean park Conservation area.
*Close to Bournemouth University accommodation
*Imagine dropping your child off to start university to be welcomed by a gypsy site.
***YOU NEED TO SIGN THIS PETITION AGAINST THE LOCATION OF THIS PROPOSED SITE IMMEDIATELY***
We also STRONGLY RECOMMEND you attend the cabinet meeting on October 12 at Bournemouth Town Hall to show your support.

We, the undersigned, call on Bournemouth Borough Council to REJECT the proposal for the Park / Lansdowne Traveller site.
We understand the Council's requirement for a traveller site but demand that further sites OUTSIDE the town centre are chosen which will less affect local residents, local business and tourism.
