Our society has an epidemic of pet overpopulation. Every Humane Society, Animal Control Pound, shelter and rescue group is overflowing with thousands of puppies, dogs, kittens and cats available for adoption, and it costs cities and townships millions of dollars to run these organizations.
Puppy mills keep driving pet overpopulation. Puppy mills are factory-like breeding operations where dogs suffer most of their lives, if not their entire lives, in stacked, overcrowded cages, being bred over and over. They receive little to no exercise and socialization and minimal veterinary care. When these breeding dogs are no longer "useful" they are auctioned off, dumped at shelters or destroyed.
Puppy mills are not only mass breeding sick puppies, they are inhumane, failing to meet even the most basic care standards. Coccidia, Girardia and Parvo are rampant in puppy mills because of the cramped, unhealthy, unsanitary conditions.
The madness and heartbreaking misery that these animals are living in needs to end.
We need new laws in order to end the inhumane treatment of puppies and dogs in commercial breeding facilities that exploit both the dogs and consumers in pursuit of profit. We must stop placing profit over the well-being of the dogs in these horrific facilities.
Laws that shut down puppy mills will ensure that people get their puppies, kittens, dogs, cats and rabbits from breeders, animal shelters, humane societies and non-profit rescue groups.
Please sign this petition to put an end to puppy mill cruelty.
We, the undersigned, call on the Legislators to shut down puppy mills and end the inhumane treatment of puppies and dogs in commercial breeding facilities that exploit both the dogs and consumers in pursuit of profit.
We must stop placing profit over the well-being of the dogs in these horrific facilities.
