Cervical Cancer can affect many women at any age. Cervical Smear Tests can detect changes that could lead to cancer early. I am 24 and because I live in Wales was offered a smear test however I'm still 11 months away from the recommended age of 25 in England. Changes can happen very quickly and I've been fortunate, if I lived in England 11 months may have been too long.
Claire Allan, a mother of two, like me, died of cervical cancer at the age of 23 last August, had she been offered a smear test her life might very well have been saved.
I believe Cervical Smear Tests should be available to all women once they reach the age of 20.
