Stop speeding in our local subdivisons

I live on Burnaby Street - a beautiful kid friendly area. I love to call Paradise home. However, something has to be down about the amount of speeding in our subdivison especially before Sobey's opens and Neils Pond subdivison joins on to ours.

My son and his friend almost got hit by a truck on Saturday. I have yelled at people, I have called the police (totally useless) and now I am pleading to you as Director of Public Works and Engineering Services to help protect my children's lives and those that live in our subdivision.

I'm sure you've heard this before "I pay taxes... blah blah blah" I know its an old line but we need to protect our children. They will be the ones using our parks, skating rinks, and hopefully in a few years a swimming pool.

I am teaching my children to look both ways crossing the road. I warn them when they don't. But kids being kids, they act on instinct and just run - they forget.

I'm pleading to you to put up speed limit signs (30km/h is more than enough), a 3 way stop sign at Burnaby and Tiverton. Speed bumps would work, I don't care about the noise as long as my children are safe and the cost of these speed bumps should not matter when its our children we are protecting.

I know you have received emails and calls such as this but its time to step up and do something. Allan English was campagining in our area last year and I asked him about speed bumps and he replied that they have a long list of them. Well PLEASE put them down.
