Stop Train Horns at Crossings in Residential Neighborhoods (72nd & Lowell in Westminster, CO)

We the undersigned petition the Union Pacific Railroad and the Burlington Northern / Santa Fe Railroad Companies to remedy the noise pollution problem caused by the damaging sound levels of train horns when passing through residential neighborhoods in the city of Westminster, Adams County, Unincorporated Adams County and throughout the Denver Metro area where there are residential and private homes.

As residents living within the proximity of these railroad crossings, the noise caused by the train horns 24 hours a day, 7 days a week negatively impacts our right to the quiet enjoyment of our homes. The train horns break the sound ordinance occurring every two and a half hours throughout the day and the night. The environment the train horns create is detrimental to our health and well being.

We and our children cannot get the necessary rest and sleep needed for productivity and normal functioning on our daily activities due to the persistent train horns that break the sound ordinances all night and all day.

The frequency, volume and hours of the train horns create a negative environment for sleep, working, quality of life and quiet enjoyment.

The noise pollution caused by these train horns creates an undue financial burden upon us by negatively impacting the values of our homes.

Action Petitioned For: We, the undersigned urge the City of Westminster, County of Adams and Unincorporated Adams, the State of Colorado and Union Pacific/Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Companies to cease blowing train horns immediately and to create a "Quiet Zone" within our residential neighborhoods with the funds that have already been approved of by the City Council in Westminster. Most specifically, the crossing at 72nd & Lowell in Westminster. This is a call to action for imminent results.
