The Bridgeport, WV City County will be reading an Ordinance at the next 2 city council meetings in order to vote on an Ordinance at the 3rd meeting to begin the slaughtering of deer on the periphery of Bridgeport City limits.
The deer population needs to be addressed, but in a humane and ethical manner. Arrows with razor blades are shot through the animal who may suffer for up to 6 hours before dying.
These animals may be seen running in your yard, sliding glass door, or car. This will be traumatizing and unsafe for all humans, especially children.
We, the undersigned Bridgeport, WV residents, call on the City Council of Bridgeport to vote against the proposed ordinance of unmericful bow and arrow killing of deer in and on the periphery of the city of Bridgeport.
This practice is unsafe to our residents both physically and psychologically. The razor blade ladened arrows will NOT kill the deer instantly. The deer may suffer in great agony for up to 6 hours. The razored arrow penetrates through the body of the deer, and some residents will see the deer running with arrows extending from each side of the body.
The deer WILL suffer in agonzing pain for possibly up to 6 hours before succombing to a horrifying death. The deer will be confused and cause danger to people, pets, houses, and cars. The hunters will scourer the neighborhoods to locate their kill and haul away the dead bodies. This practice is traumatizing and unsafe for all people, especially children.
This practive is only a short term option which will then need to be repeated year after year.
This proposed ordinance of unmerciful and cruel killing of our deer wildlife must be vetoed by our City Council. Only ethical, long term, and effective solutions need be addressed on this growing issue.
