21st November 2012
The Australian Federal Government, Department of Health quietly announced the withdrawal of
70% funding for the chemotherapy drug - Docetexal.
Grave concern has been expressed by Health providers, insurers and consumers.
If this funding is withdrawn, this sets a dangerous precedent for any other cancer treatment or vital medical treatment.
We are protesting the withdrawal of this funding and any future funding for cancer treatments and life threatening illness treatments.
We, the undersigned, strongly protest at the proposed withdrawal of Federal and/or State Government funding for the Cancer drug - Docetexal.
This clinically proven, life saving chemotherapy drug is used for treatment in Breast, Ovarian, Prostate and Lung Cancer and should NEVER have any funding withdrawn.
Therefore we DEMAND that the withdrawing of the Government funding (which accounts to be 70%) be STOPPED immediately.
We also DEMAND that ALL cancer treatments for ALL cancers and ANY treatment for ANY life-threatening illness be exempt from ANY withdrawal of funds and be PROTECTED against such proposals.
All Australian citizens should be entitled to receive cancer treatment WITH funding from both the State and Federal Governments.
