Student petition to block proposed contract with PARTA and dissolve Campus Bus Service

To the Attention of President Cartwright: We, the undersigned,oppose the University Administration's proposal to enter into a contract with PARTA to take over all of the transit routes currently provided by Campus Bus Service. We believe that the resulting loss of 100 student jobs far outweighs the small financial savings gained by entering into the contract. Furthermore, the history and tradition of excellence provided over 36 years of service to the students of Kent State by Campus Bus Service, a student run organization, should not be ignored by the Administration of a University with so much history and tradition. We ask that the University Administration reconsider entering into this contract with PARTA and keep Campus Bus Service a student run organization.
