We feel that it is discriminatory that wheelchair bound people are denied access to the Rockpool because there are currently no beach wheelchairs to facilitate the safe entry into the water. The health benefits for individuals with physical disabilities are well documented as swimming in water puts almost no strain on the body. We would just like the same right to have a swim as anyone else.
We, the undersigned, ask that the Townsville City Council provide and maintain at least 1 (one) beach wheelchair for the exclusive use at the Rockpool in Townsville.
