Question:
Why have the municipalities of Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Delta and New Westminster amended their antiquated beekeeping bylaws and Pitt Meadows has not?
I propose that the City of Pitt Meadows should allow hobby bee keeping in our community as a sustainability effort to help support the urban agricultural movement.
Allowing beekeeping is one of the many things that the City can do to help in developing a resilient local food practice.

Beekeeping is a vital practice, one essential to the health of our urban environment and has tremendous potential as a vehicle for economic development and education efforts everywhere.
Therefore, I propose the city of Pitt Meadows amend bylaw 1652 that prohibits the keeping of bees in the urban zone.
