Support for a quality wine shop on 29 Anerley Road

As a wine merchant with over 15 years of experience, having worked and managed prestigious wine stores in London, I want to open on 29 Anerley Road in Crystal Palace, a modern and elegant wine boutique to offer a range of sparkling, still and organic wines sourced directly from small producers in Italy, France, Spain and England, as well as a selection of speciality and local crafted beers.

It is, of course, my duty as a professional of the wine industry to promote the safe drinking – and true appreciation - of alcohol, which is why I have acquired a strong wines & spirits education and received the highest recognised training for customer services and alcohol licensing accreditations.

I consulted the Chief Police Inspector and the Fire Department Officers from the licensing team at Bromley Council to make sure that all is done according to the law, licensing regulations, and Health and Safety rules prior to the opening. All their requirements have been strictly followed by the professional retail designer currently fitting out the space. However, a person has launched a petition against my business, raising 220 signatures, on the basis that I “will cause social disorder, public nuisance and harm to children.” As a result, my licence has not been granted and my application will go to a hearing on the 26th August 2014 at 10 am.
