Our local firefighters are currently earning just over minimum wage; in 2008 when minimum wage is increased, a firefighter will be earning LESS than your server at a local Burger King.
These are men and women who put their lives in danger to save ours; we call them 'Our Heros'. Don't you agree that heros deserve more than that?
Unfortunately, a mere 'thank you' will not pay their bills or put their children through college; so, lets support our firefighters, literally! The Isle of Palms City Council are currently deciding whether our firefighters "deserve" a raise, and if so, how much they think is necessary.
Help us get their attention and make this decision final. After all that these firefighters have done for us, it is now our turn to help them.
We, the undersigned, call upon the Isle of Palms City Council and Mayor to agree to making a difference in the lives of the Isle of Palms firefighters.
