I would like to see public debate about why we cannot find a way to make assisted dying in extreme circumstances possible?

This petition is designed to gauge how many people agree with this being debated in the States of Guernsey.

These are just SOME of my ideas for discussion
1. The individual would have signed a legal document clearly stating their wish to not be kept alive when quality of life had disappeared.
2. A DNR agreement would be in place.
3. 3 Dr's would have diagnosed a terminal illness/or life dependancy on drugs/mechanical intervention to ensure further life.
4. Quality of life can be measured in several ways and may be based around loss of motor skills - ability to move around without assistance and bodily functions working without mechanical assistance and or intravenous intervention.
5. There would be a list of certain illnesses that would comply with the rules - some examples being - Motor Neurone, Parkinson's, MS

This as a document clearly would need work, but I feel that we MUST have the discussion to make circumstances like the recent Noel Conway case, where he was denied the right to choose, become a thing of the past.

We are, I feel guilty of feeding the drug companies greed by the 'need' to live longer - I, and many I know, do not want to live longer - it has so many repercussions on our communities - less in the pot for hard fought pensions as people live longer.
That knocks on to people having to work longer because of the financial drain on services and more.

There would still be a big need for homes for ageing people but the ones who have lived a full life and really have nothing left to live with no quality of life.
