The Protection of MMAR Exemptees From Unjust Prosecution by Local Authorities
- Target:
- Honourable Robert Douglas Nicholson, PM Steven Harper, and Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, P.C., M.P.
- Region:
- Canada
Medical Cannabis exemptees continue to be prosecuted under law despite being in compliance with both Section 4 of the CDSA and Section 11 of the Medical Marijuana Access Regulations(SOR-2001-227).
Health Canada is currently quoted at 8-10 weeks for processing of applications. This leaves those who require medical cannabis vulnerable to violations to our inalienable rights guaranteed in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
We the undersigned, petition for the amendment of current CDSA law to provide immediate exemption from prosecution for possession during MMAR processing times contingent upon submission of required signed application or notification to local authorities after approval thus eliminating undue strain on the penal system.
