In the new Conservative-Liberal Democrat cabinet Theresa May has been appointed as Minister for Women and Equality.

Prior to this appointment her voting record on gay rights has included:

She voted against lowering the age of consent in homosexual relationships to 16.

She voted against gay adoption rights.

We would like to make it clear that this campaign is not politically motivated, and is in no way a campaign against any political party.

Furthermore it is campaigning only for Theresa May's continuation in this specific post, as she is entitled to her opinions as much as anyone else, and also has a right to vote on what she believes rather than pressurised to vote a certain way.

If anyone thinks she is prejudiced though I suggest you visit this link: http://bit.ly/d3JztG

This petition is designed to counteract a petition already launched demanding her removal from this position, and to support her views. Not everyone agrees or accepts the current stance on Gays.

We, the undersigned, call on Theresa May to remain in her post as Minister for Equality for the United Kingdom.

We believe that Theresa May should occupy the post of Equality Minister because she upholds the position of many people who do not accept the current stance on Gay rights.

We feel that she is appropriate for the position as she has been a positive force for the cause of morals in this Country. Her appointment is productive as there is not a more appropriate person for the job who is prepared to acknowledge the many who do not support Gay rights.

We consider she is ideal in her commitment to implementing effective change in this country whilst ensuring progress does not undermine decency, religious views and moral standing.

Therefore, we ask support for this petition to counteract another petition that has been set up by Gay rights activists.
