As a local proprietor who relies on the health of Cardiff Airport to survive, I have been dismayed by the poor management and lack of any credible investment brought forward not only during the recession, but during the "Good Times" too.
TBI Abertis have shown time and again the desire to siphon money from Cardiff Airport and invest it elsewhere, namely Luton Airport (Which TBI also own) and many other worldwide airports they own.
Carwen Jones has shown some interest in the Welsh Assembly purchasing a public stake in the terminal and working with a new private backer to bring about real change at Cardiff Airport.
This is something which already happens at the hugely successful Manchester Airport and given the long period of decline brought about by Abertis; perhaps the only way to now save the terminal.
I believe that Carwen Jones is completely right. We need a new owner for Cardiff Airport. One that will invest in new facilities, bring new carriers to the terminal and develop a true Welsh alternative to Bristol Airport that competes both on price and availability.
Ultimately we need to force TBI Abertis out before they completely destroy what's left of our national airport.
