Traffic Calming at Attirory

There are numerous daily occurrences of traffic speeding in the area, particularly at peak times and it is highly likely there is an accident waiting to happen. There have been several close calls with young children, teenagers coming into close contact with speeding traffic. The road itself varies in width and falls down hill towards the N4 which itself encourages speeding. The speed limit for this section of road is too high and need to be reviewed and changed. Articulated lorries also used this road along with the traffic from 8 housing estates (approx 250 houses). Attirory has become a popular walking area for families both young and old. With traffic exceeding the speed limit in the area it can cause unwanted levels of anxiety. Proper traffic calming measures should be installed to encourage traffic to Slow Down. The kids in the area are all around a similar age where they are now visiting the local shops, cycling to school or to football training/matches. This section of road is wide in places and the children tend to run across it, which can add to the risk of crossing a road. A proper styled pedestrian crossing would alleviate this and encourage the children to cross the road in a safe manner.
