- Town of Oak Island, NC and Oak Island Board
- Region:
- United States of America
In June of 2014 Myself, my husband Cary, and my daughter Isabella moved to Oak island NC and quickly realised we have a significant issue on our block.
Our road is NOT an outlet but regardless, we are inundated with motorists who simply refuse to adhere to the safe speed of 20 mph on residential streets. We have implemented signs, cordially asking for motorists to slow down only to be ignored by so many. We ask that you, our fellow neighbors help us to urge the town for traffic calming measures as police presence is only a limited solution to a 24 hour a day problem. Please join us in commissioning the local town leadership to put an end to this problem before someone gets hurt or even killed.
We, the residents of S.W. 28th street and Island Drive request YOU, the Town of Oak Island implement immediate traffic calming measures in order to protect the resident tax payers and their children from being harmed by speeding motorists running in excess of 20 miles per hour on our street. Police presence has failed, signs have failed and we look You, the local government for remedy.
Below, you will find a list of concerned, voting, tax paying residents asking for speed bumps to be implemented as a traffic calming measure.
Thank You
